This being the last weekend at Deer Camp for this Season when I got down out of my stand Saturday morning I walked through the Hardwoods on the way back to camp. I was kinda still hunting and just enjoying the woods, an I came across an old Deer Stand. I can remember the Old days hunting out of wooden stands that we built ourselves. You would go out an scout around an find a good spot an a Big Tree an then haul in some Lumber an go to work. We would always name our stands, Mile high the triangle even Death Valley one my favorite stand names was the SS Minnow from the ground it looked like a Boat. None of us ever wore a safety belt much less a Harness, It was a different Time for sure. Brings back some GREAT Memories. The Lord must have been watching out for all of Us! See pictures

It’s always neat seeing those old stands. You know it’s good place to hunt. I don’t know how you hunted the Mile High Stand. That must have been 50′ off the ground. I helped make that triangle stand but didn’t ever want to hunt it because it so difficult to climb in. I think someone dropped their gun getting in and out of that stand. And then there was one stand that had only one 2X4 board wedged in a tree. Our stands now a days are a cake walk.
