ParticipantWell, you may remember my previous post where I mounted my deer heads at work. Well, my wife has been telling me I could hang the third mount up in the living room as long as I ship lap the the fire place. Well we had friends over for brunch this morning and were talking about the pallets they had saved and that were collecting dust in the garage. All of a sudden the project was on and we were fully involved. It did take a while to get it going as pallets have nails that are not easily pried with a crow bar without splitting the boards. However, once we had the recipricating saw and I picked a Brad gun after a recommendation from my buddy, the project really started coming together.
The pictures speak for themself, we are so happy with the finished product, and now that all my mounts are up the wall, I believe it may be time to put some horns on the ground again next season and make a trip to the taxidermy. I hope you enjoy! I’ll never look at pallet wood the same.

ParticipantGreat looking job. Amazing that it looks so “right” in what is an otherwise formal room. Maybe its because the buck himself is so elegant in pose. Hard to believe it came out so perfect in that short a time. Be proud, too, of the material: recycling the pallets is environmentally sound and you got a fantastic effect without having to pay an arm and a leg at some architectural antiques place for “repurposed vintage barn lumber.”
