ParticipantI use to think that Saint Francis was a bit “wacko” when it came to the Canticle of the Creatures or the Canticle to Brother Sun and some of his thoughts on nature. I was wrong. We spend a lot of time praying for ourselves [though I don’t], praying for circumstances, situations, and causes [I don’t do that either] and praying for others [I do a lot of that] but rarely if ever do we pray for creation. It seems to me that our forbearers were considerably ahead of our environmental concerns expressed today. We need to pray for creation. This came to light when I was saying the Benediciti (Omnia Opera) or the Song of the Three Children as it is known. It is lengthy so let me share just a few lines. Glorify the Lord, every shower of rain and fall of dew, all winds and fire and heat. Winter and summer, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him forever. Glorify the Lord, O chill and cold, drops of dew and flakes of snow. Frost and cold, ice and sleet, glorify the Lord, praise him and hight exalt him forever. Glorify the Lord, O nights and days, O shining light and enfolding dark. Storm clouds and thunderbolts, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him forever. *Pray for the animals, the water, the sky and the earth – it is all we have.
“… the whole of Creation groans…”

ModeratorRight Up my Alley ! I have a tradition of thanking GOD every time I Arrive at My Hunting land or anywhere I wind up Hunting or just Spending time in the Outdoors. Year’s before I started this Website I WOULD Pray and talk to God after I Tilled up a Food Plot, On my knees thanking GOD just for giving me the Opportunity to be in my favorite Spot again. Or just thankful for the Cool Weather or the fact that a good Rain came along for my food plots and trees. Always good to give Thanks to the LORD.

Participant…you have done a fabulous job with this site “huntaholic”!.
On another note – I lost my dog Reese a few years back. I have not been able to get another one, just yet. He taught me more about humility and loyalty than just about anyone. He was on every canoe trip, summer and winter camp and was an extraordinary companion. He carried his own pack like a trooper and guarded me on my solo trips.
