It was one to remember! I was up in the stand bright and early on opening morning and right away starting seeing deer. Several doe’s out feeding in our plots. Had a couple small bucks cross the power line I was sitting on. I saw 8 deer before my buck came out pushing a doe. He was a huge bodied buck and was only about 70 yards away. I threw up my rifle but had trouble getting him in the scope at first as he was on the move. I tried grunting at him (and finally hollering at him) to get him to stop. He wasn’t having it. As he moved across the power line and in to some brush, he stopped for a split second, this was my only chance. So I swung on him and made a quick shot. I reloaded quickly and the deer was out of site. I thought I’d missed. I actually texted my Dad and told him I missed. I waited for about a half hour and went to look for blood. I walked up to the spot and low and behold….THERE HE WAS!! Dead as a rock…haha!! It was a fun morning and another good buck for the wall.
