Happy New Year Everyone! It’s a pleasure to tell everyone that I am now engaged to the love of my life, Elena Gonzalez. I proposed to her on 12/29/16 at Raven Cliff Falls, which is a 5 mile round trip hike outside of Blairsville, GA. It was a beautiful, cold-day in the MTNs. No cell phone service, vacation day, and a great hike to reflect on 2016, but more importantly a new year to look forward to. It was me, her Grandma (82 years old), and our dog Remi. At the end of the hike, you get to see a beautiful 90 ft waterfall between two cliffs. Her grandmother and I had worked on the plan together for months. The original plan was thanksgiving, but bc of the wildfires in GA/TN/NC, we postponed it so we could go enjoy the great outdoors. Elena had no idea… But before we packed up to head back, I proposed to her on a Rock Island at the bottom of the waterfall. I actually carved “Will You” into a Rock, and presented that, along with the REAL ROCK, and i finished the question by asker her to marry me. Well of course she said yes. Her Grandmother is a role model to Elena, and I think it was so very special to her Grandmother to have been apart of the occasion. I knew I wanted to propose in a beautiful place outdoors, and I did it, and i’m so very thankful.
Her grandmother was our photographer; at 82 she had a hard time taking pictures on the I-phone, but she had no problems at all with the 5 mile hike. I hope when I’m 82, I can be healthy enough to complete this Hike, like Granny Becky did!

Highly recommend Raven Cliff falls for any special moment, if even to get away for a few hours. It’s a hike along the water the entire time.
