ParticipantHey Guys,
First time post on the site, but I have enjoyed reading the stories for quite some time. I was invited to go on a hunt 2 weekends ago back in Alabama where the season was still going. This was my first hunt, so naturally I found my self asking the guys I was with a ton of questions and trying to soak everything in.
The first morning I didn’t see anything beyond some smaller does, so I took the time to really reflect on how beautiful Gods country really is.That night however with permission from the land owner to be a little more lax on the normal buck requirements, I was about to get a smaller 6 point with a really cool drop tine. After I had taken the shot, (the buck dropped in his tracks) I found my heart was still beating like I had just finished sprinting a mile, but I was able to take a few breathes and thank the lord as I climbed the stand and waited for my friend to come and pick me and the buck up with his ranger.
The next evening I was able to harvest a grey faced doe that was a solid 135 lbs; so the chest freezer will have some protein in it for a while!
I may have a new hobby that will be taking up my time in the future years. Even if just for the occasional morning of quite the I may gain from it in the woods. My son was so excited at the pictures that I brought home, and both of my kids (and wife) enjoyed the country fried steak I was able to make from my harvest {which from what I understand is another blessing}; now just have to find a good club with some openigns or some land to lease with a few friends!

ParticipantHere are some pictures of the buck, realizing the only photo I have of the doe looks a bit bloody for some forums, is that kind of thing allowed on here; y’all probably know better than I just how bloody a double lung shot can be.
