1st BOW KILL= Best hunt ever. I could go on an on and on, but to make a long story short, to date, i had my best, most thrilling hunt yet, which ended with a dead buck on the ground.

I hunted a new ladder stand we put up earlier this spring. Got in the stand about 20 minutes before dark. As soon as dawn hits, i’m covered up with deer from all sides. The crazy part about it is all i saw was bucks. 4 PT’s 5 PTs, 6 pts, spikes. I actually drew on another deer earlier in the day, but i was so nervous and shaking, i ended up waiting for a potential better shot, only to have that deer walk away, and a new one come in the picture. I stayed gripped to the front of my chain, and my eyes did not leave that deer regardless of what was going on around me. I saw 4 PTS on one side, and I saw a big bodied deer, so i prepared myself for my next draw. When he was walking through this lane, as soon as a tree blocked his view from me i drew and waited about 45 seconds for him to come out the other side. I did say a quick prayer and asked for a clean kill. And i got it! The arrow pierced the deer and he dropped 5-6 yards after flipping and rolling all over the place. The kill happened right at 0900am.

The rack was better than i thought it was. Apparently it’s a 9 pt with a kicker, but i’m rounding up to 10! 🙂 This deer will go above my brick mantle fireplace at my new house that we are closing on in Dahlonega GA on 11/19.

Such a thrilling morning, most likely going to have to put the gun away for a lot longer, as it just cant get much better than getting one with a BOW!

      Cheers,
      Kevin

THIS IS FOR YOU KEVIN – and I kid you not! I thought about you this morning and this is why.

I was attending the Annual Veterans Breakfast this morning at a long-term care facility where I provide Spiritual Care. The Executive Director jumps up and leaves the table abruptly. I’ve seen that jump up before so I follow her down the hall towards one of the units. She looks at me absolutely perplexed and we both turn and face? A deer, that was in the hallway crashing and smashing the walls. Really! In minutes the three-tier service was on the property, [fire, ambulance, police and on this occasion animal control]. For whatever reason, it smashed through from the outside window and was in the hallway. Police, with riot shields, and support of the team, ushered the deer out of the building via a patio entrance, minus one antler, which the police kept. Unbelievably, other than the antler the deer apparently was not sufficiently hurt to permit it being taken down. We watched as it sprang towards the forested area.

Congratulations on a great bow hunt. Maybe I’ll follow your lead this year and get one with my stick bow. Very proud of your accomplishment and the way you did it. That was “good” hunting.

Well, that sure is one wild Story! Certainly happy that the deer got away without being hurt. I wish someone would have gotten a video of that one!
