Duck Season Right Around the Corner

Early teal season is less than six months away. Getting the decoys ready just in time. These are hand carved in the old fashioned way: hatchet, draw-knife, gouges and carving knives (except for the two redheads – they’re old machine turned white pine decoys but I added keel, weight and the paint job). The rest are made of cedar, fir or basswood; found materials mostly. Lots of fun to make and even more fun to hunt over. So far I’ve finished greenwing teal, bluewing teal, widgeon, ringneck ducks, bufflehead, Canada geese, and a little coot. Got some mallards carved, as well as wood ducks and some more teal. Pintail pair in the works, also.All balanced and self-righting. Really helps pass the time till the migration.

That’s some GREAT looking Decoys! You know how it is it’ll be here before you know it. I personally need to study up on which Ducks are which! Ducks are some of Gods Finest looking animals.
