ParticipantEarly teal season is less than six months away. Getting the decoys ready just in time. These are hand carved in the old fashioned way: hatchet, draw-knife, gouges and carving knives (except for the two redheads – they’re old machine turned white pine decoys but I added keel, weight and the paint job). The rest are made of cedar, fir or basswood; found materials mostly. Lots of fun to make and even more fun to hunt over. So far I’ve finished greenwing teal, bluewing teal, widgeon, ringneck ducks, bufflehead, Canada geese, and a little coot. Got some mallards carved, as well as wood ducks and some more teal. Pintail pair in the works, also. All balanced and self-righting. Really helps pass the time till the migration.
