I’m just about packed for another adventure of a different kind. Camp Wendake. The camp is designed specifically for those with HIV/AIDs, their support worker, family, or friend. We have ninety-five campers and thirty-five staff plus one resident doctor and four nurses. The camp, located on the sandy shores of Lake Huron, affords an opportunity to relax and enjoy the various programs that are offered. There is an adult program and one designed for children and youth. The staff is trained in various camp activities and programs. And my task? I’m care team and I am available to anyone at any time for any reason. Yes, I build spectacular campfires and do other things too, but my main focus and emphasis is care. It’s a different camp and it’s not about me.

Do remember me in your prayers – it would be greatly appreciated.

It’s beginning to get darker now and I feel the summer slipping away. Do enjoy what is left.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your kind comments.
HAPPY LABOUR DAY TODAY and thanks to the many workers who contribute to the well-being of the nations.

The first picture you will see is the beach at Camp Wendake [a place set apart] where we just completed a specialty camp. I took it early morning. Now in its twenty-sixth year of operation, it provides a caring environment for persons living with HIV/AIDs. I’ve frequently referred to my time there as “camping with a purpose”. This year we had an added attraction of a “blue moon”, a second full moon in the same month.
