Being Quiet

It’s quiet on Clear Lake. Oh, wait a minute, that is not actually correct. There is the gentle breeze that rustles the leaves on the trees, the chatter of the red squirrel, the loon making a racket on the lake, the tap of the rain on the tent, and the water lapping onto the shore. And there is something else you can’t hear but feel. It’s the inner peace and tranquility you experience.

Lots of rain and humidity in this neck of the woods – the grass gets taller every day.

The photo is from Clear Lake, having taken the little connecting river from Red Pine my favourite place to canoe these last few years. It’s four hours from my home.

We have been exploring the idea of canoeing the Georgian Bay area – a beautiful section that boasts of 30,000 islands and 32 historic lighthouses. Georgian Bay is the world’s largest freshwater archipelago and is one of our National Parks.
