BFMHUNT
ParticipantI’m out in Texas in usually come in to Georgia opening rifle weekend. I decided to come in for the second weekend this year to get have some extra opportunities to hunt before the weekend. Got to hunt my brothers place in Dahlonega a couple of days (didn’t see anything but nice to be setup near the rolling creek and just take in all the sounds). Headed down to Hancock County Friday afternoon and decided to get in an old ladder stand near the middle food plot. The food plots looked awesome. Made it in about 5 and at around 6, was watching a squirrel to my left and noticed something behind it. Turned out to be a doe, she walked down the hill but turned to the right and went behind me. All of sudden she flipped 180 degrees and walked right down a little path to the shooting lane opening. I put the bead on her and took the shot. Her back legs jumped up and she ran out of site. Got down after about 10 minutes to check for blood and had good spots, so started tracking. She ran about 75 yards and piled up. It was nice to get the pressure off and get some meat for the freezer. We lost all of our meat this summer from the freezer going bad. Overall it was a great weekend with my Dad and brother, we feasted on BBQ, chops, corn, baked beans, and got to watch the Braves clinch their spot in the World Series. Can’t beat it! Rifle season opens up this weekend in Texas. Looking forward to some cool weather.
